1. Overview & Data Minimisation Principle
PoGo Tactics ("the App") is developed and operated by Nikolaj Zastrotzky ("we", "us", "Controller"). We take the protection of your personal data very seriously. The App is architected according to the principle of Privacy by Design and Data Minimisation: your Pokémon collection, custom movesets, and screenshot OCR scans are stored and processed exclusively locally on your device.
2. 100% On-Device Screenshot & Broadcast OCR Processing (Apple Vision & ReplayKit)
When you use the Photo Gallery Scanner or the ReplayKit Live Broadcast Scanner to read Pokémon Combat Power (CP) and Individual Value (IV) bars:
- All image recognition and pixel bar measurements are performed 100% locally in your iPhone/iPad's volatile memory (RAM) using Apple's native
Vision framework.
- No screenshots, photos, or screen recordings are ever uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any external server.
- Extracted numerical stats (CP, ATK/DEF/HP IVs) are saved locally on your device in
UserDefaults / Apple App Group container (group.com.nzastrotzky.poketactic) and can be exported as CSV or permanently wiped at any time via the "Delete all" button in the Pokédex tab.
3. Ephemeral Cloud Raid Matchmaking (Google Firebase Firestore)
To allow trainers worldwide to host and join Raid Lobbies, the App uses Google Cloud Firestore (provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC). When you actively open a raid lobby or join a matchmaking queue:
- Data Transmitted: Your self-chosen Trainer Name, 12-digit Pokémon GO Friend Code, and Trainer Level (1–50).
- Purpose & Legal Basis: Necessary to display your Friend Code to the raid host or lobby participants so they can add you in-game (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a user-requested service).
- Automatic Deletion (Zero Permanent Storage): Matchmaking documents in
direct_lobbies and queue_tickets are strictly ephemeral. As soon as a lobby is closed, expires (max. 50 minutes), or you leave the queue, your matchmaking entry is automatically and permanently deleted from the Firestore database.
4. Usage Telemetry (Google Firebase Analytics) & Advertising (Google AdMob)
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which app features (e.g., Battle Simulator modes, Pokédex filters, Raid tabs) are used most frequently and to ensure app stability, and Google AdMob (GoogleMobileAds SDK) to display a single compact 320×50 banner ad at the bottom of the screen. Please refer to Tab 3 (AdMob Ads & Firebase Analytics) for full technical details and opt-out controls.
5. External Live Raid & Event Data Feed
To display current Raid Bosses and Event schedules, the App performs a read-only HTTPS GET request to our static JSON feed hosted on GitHub Pages (https://spirocs.github.io/pogo_scraper/api/raidboss.json). As with any standard web request, your device's IP address is technically processed by GitHub, Inc. to deliver the response payload.
6. Your Statutory Privacy Rights (GDPR / Japan APPI / CCPA)
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Arts. 15–21 GDPR), the Japanese Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and export your data. Because your collection is stored locally on your device, you can exercise full data portability (CSV Export) and erasure (Delete all) directly inside the App at any time, or leave any active raid lobby to immediately erase your temporary matchmaking ticket.

PoGo Tactics is an unofficial, independent fan-created tactical calculator and matchmaking utility app. This project is NOT affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or specifically approved by Niantic, Inc., The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, Creatures Inc., or Nintendo.
1. Ownership of Third-Party Trademarks
Pokémon, Pokémon GO, and all respective Pokémon character names, type names, move names, and related marks are registered trademarks or copyrights of Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc., The Pokémon Company, and Niantic, Inc. All rights in those marks belong to their respective owners.
2. Doctrine of Nominative Fair Use (US Lanham Act / EU Art. 14 EUTMR / § 23 MarkenG / Japan Art. 26)
All references to Pokémon names, Pokédex numbers, elemental types, movesets, and mathematical game mechanics within PoGo Tactics are made strictly in accordance with the legal doctrine of Nominative Fair Use (15 U.S.C. § 1125(c)(3)(A); Art. 14(1)(c) EU Regulation 2017/1001; § 23 No. 3 German MarkenG; Art. 26(1)(ii)-(iii) Japanese Trademark Act):
- Necessity of Identification: A battle simulator, IV calculator, and raid lobby organizer for Pokémon GO cannot function or be intelligibly described without referring to the actual names of the Pokémon, moves, and raid tiers being calculated.
- Minimum Necessary Use (Text & Pure Math Only): PoGo Tactics uses only plain-text names, #Dex numbers, and mathematical formulas (Combat Power Multiplier tables, damage equations) required for tactical simulation. The App does not rip, redistribute, or bundle proprietary 3D models, copyrighted audio files, or official Niantic/Pokémon logos.
- No Implied Sponsorship or Endorsement: Both the App (in Settings → Legal Information) and this website prominently disclaim any commercial or official relationship with The Pokémon Company, Niantic, Inc., and Nintendo.
3. Monetization of Independent Utility Software
The presence of a small banner advertisement (Google AdMob) solely defrays the ongoing cloud infrastructure, Firebase Firestore matchmaking database, and Apple Developer Program costs of providing this independent calculator and matchmaking software service. Users are never charged for any third-party intellectual property.
1. Google AdMob Banner Advertising (`GoogleMobileAds`)
PoGo Tactics integrates the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) / Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) to display a single, non-intrusive 320×50 banner at the bottom of the interface.
- Data Processed by AdMob: Online identifiers (including Cookie identifiers, Apple's Identifier for Advertisers [IDFA] only if explicitly permitted by you via iOS App Tracking Transparency, or Vendor ID [IDFV]), IP address (used for coarse location/country detection and fraud prevention), device model, OS version, and ad interaction metrics (banner loaded, impression, click).
- Apple SKAdNetwork: AdMob utilizes Apple's privacy-preserving
SKAdNetwork API to measure aggregate ad campaign conversions without identifying individual users.
- Opt-Out & iOS Controls: You can disable personalized advertising at any time in your iPhone/iPad settings under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. When tracking is disabled, AdMob serves only non-personalized / contextual banner ads.
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
2. Google Firebase Analytics (`FirebaseAnalytics`)
We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect pseudonymous, aggregated usage statistics so we know which features trainers use most and where errors occur:
- Logged Events: Screen/Tab views (
screen_view, tab_selected), battle simulation runs (battle mode, target boss, win/loss projection), Pokédex filter usage, OCR scan counts (number of Pokémon scanned, without any image or personal data), and raid matchmaking actions (hosting/joining counts).
- User Properties: Chosen Trainer Team (Mystic/Valor/Instinct), Trainer Level, App Language (
en/de/ja), and total count of scanned Pokémon in Box.
- No PII in Analytics: Neither your Trainer Name nor your 12-digit Friend Code is ever sent to Firebase Analytics.

By downloading or using PoGo Tactics from the Apple App Store, you agree to these Terms of Use and Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple Standard EULA).
2. Fair-Play Companion Tool (No Cheating or Unauthorized Access)
PoGo Tactics operates strictly as an external mathematical calculator and raid lobby directory. You are solely responsible for complying with Niantic's Terms of Service and Player Guidelines while playing Pokémon GO.
3. Raid Matchmaking Code of Conduct
When using the Cloud Raid Matchmaking feature, you agree not to submit offensive, harassing, or unlawful Trainer Names, and not to spam or intentionally abandon fake raid lobbies.
4. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability
PoGo Tactics and its battle simulations, OCR level estimations, and live event schedules are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind. Game formulas, raid boss rotations, and CPM multipliers may be changed by Niantic at any time without notice. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any lost Raid Passes, Stardust, Candy, or indirect damages arising from the use of the App.
